3 seconds
Drei Sekunden scheiden Zukunft und Vergangenheit, drei Sekunden lang ist Gegenwart: Alle Reize, die das Bewusstsein in diesem Intervall aufnimmt, versteht es in einem unmittelbaren Zusammenhang. Drei Sekunden reichen aber nicht aus, um 3 seconds zu tätowieren – drei Sekunden reichen nur für 6 Millimeter Linie.
Mit Abdrücken und Einschreibungen verweilte 3 seconds in der Vergeblichkeit, die Präsenz eines Körpers zu fassen: Eine Frottage des Bodens des Raumes lag, noch vor der Eröffnung beiseite geschoben, in der Ausstellung wie eine abgezogene Haut. Flankiert wurde das Papierobjekt neben der Videodokumentation des 3-Sekunden-Tattoos von einer tätowierten Prognose über die physiologischen Folgen der Tätowierung im Körperinneren.

Three seconds separate the future from the past, three seconds last the present: All stimuli received within that time frame are being understood in direct correlation with each other. However, three seconds are not enough to tattoo 3 seconds – three seconds are just enough time to tattoo a 6-millimeter line.
Using imprints and inscriptions, 3 seconds lingered on the futility of grasping the presence of a body: A frottage of the space‘s floor, pushed aside before the opening, lay in the exhibition like a peeled off skin. The paper object was accompanied by a video documentation of the 3-seconds tattoo and a tattooed prognosis about the physiological consequences of the tattoo in the internal organs.

Black pigments being injected into the skin of this body on march 5, 2018. In the dermal layer, macrophages will pick up pigments and attempt to digest them. During the course of two weeks about 30% will be drained by the lymphatic system. The deposition of pigments will colour the lymph nodes along the tattooed area. Some will also be spread through the blood system and may be deposited in the liver or spleen. The pigments that are too big to be digested will remain present here.
